Making Waves

Wednesday, September 30, 2015

Jon Rose is an activist, surfer, and founder of Waves for Water, a non-profit fighting to provide water to those who otherwise would not have access to it.  The goal of Waves for Water is to deliver filters to places and people so that they can turn otherwise undrinkable water into a resource.  The non-profit has gained support from several prestigious backers including Patricia Arquette, who is on the board, and renowned companies such as Oceana and Hurley.

A Town With a View

Monday, September 28, 2015

One street in my hometown arches up into a hillside and provides sweeping views of the rest of town, the town high school, and New York City.  On the 4th of July, the street is overrun with onlookers, watching the sparks from the town fireworks fly high into the sky.

Èze in the Summertime

Wednesday, September 23, 2015

On a trip to France with family and friends, I took a bus to a tiny village towering above the sea. Èze is breathtaking. Not only due to the steep climb, up steps and cliffside corniches that wind onlookers to the summit, but also because of the endless views.

Eco-Friendly + Human-Friendly

Wednesday, September 16, 2015

For the past year or so I've used solely organic (or mostly organic) cleansing products for body, face, and hair.  I tested many different brands (including Ren, Tom's deodorant, and others) and settled on WeledaDr. Hauschka, and Taproot Farms for facial oil in the winter months, though I'm still open to other oils.

Memories of Avignon and Île de la Barthelasse

Monday, September 14, 2015

Last summer I visited this mysterious, spiritual, and ancient city with my mother and brother.  Avignon was home to the papacy in the 1300's and even established its own line of popes thereafter, establishing a situation where 2 popes served in Europe at once.
