The Market on Route 9W |
Along a winding, tree-lined road sits a small structure that resembles a gas station. And, in fact, it once was. The Market, a quick-stop style restaurant, is located in a converted gas station in Piermont, NY.
Deemed "the filling station," The Marketoffers deli-fare with a gourmet twist. Not only is this place primely situated within the country foliage of the Hudson River Valley, but it is delicious.
My boyfriend and I go hiking in a nearby forest along the Hudson River, and I am so thankful for this restaurant. I don't eat meat anymore, but this place gives me the urge. All of their meats are organic and their ice cream is made farther upstream in Kingston, NY. If you are in the area, this is a well worth it event. It's an easy location to bike to and I'd recommend hitting it before the weather gets cooler, since the picnic tables surrounding the restaurant overlook the woods. If you're in the mood for a sandwich, my advice is: try the "Indian Chief." This place is truly "homegrown" and about as local as it gets. Even if you are visiting the CIty, it's worth the thirty minute car ride across the bridge for a bite.
