Architecture of France: The North

Wednesday, May 13, 2015

One of the most inspiring aspects of France is the architecture.  French culture, linked to the chic French cafés and the innate romance of the language, is alluring enough on its own - add the architecture and I fall even more in love.
As I walked the streets of Paris last summer, I was awed by the artistry of the stone buildings.  Every structure is delicate yet strong, from the Belle-Epoque era to Haussmann's gentrified façades.  I'd learned about French architecture in a college French class, but experiencing it first-hand doesn't come close to images and text-book blurbs.  Pictures of the south of France will be posted soon.
