Barnard, Vermont is a true summerland. From its lakeside beaches punctuated by campfire pits to the hiking trails that weave up over the crests of leaves of green, there are soul inspiring views in every direction.
This summer, I had the opportunity to visit my intern, who lives in Vermont. She worked part time at the concession stand at Silver Lake. What she told me of her summer made me incredible happy. It harkened back to the days of family camping and rugged Adirondack sleepaway camps. I know this stuff still occurs, but during the 1960s and 1970s it seemed that National Park family vacations were all the rage.
The grounds at The Barnard Inn are gorgeous and lush. We ate dinner here after a day spent at the lake and went to a campfire near the water after.
